What causes elbow pain?

Elbow pain is often due to overuse injuries from sport or jobs that involve repetitive hand, wrist and arm movements. A common cause of elbow pain is tendonitis including lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow) and medial epicondylitis (golfer’s elbow), which is an inflammation or an injury to the tendons that attach muscle to bone. These conditions cause severe tenderness on the outside or inside of the elbow, pain can also be felt in the forearm and/or hand.

Non-surgical solutions to elbow pain

Many people with elbow pain participate in recreational activities or careers that require repetitive and vigorous use of the forearm muscles, like tennis or golf.

Jobs like painting, plastering or general labour and construction are prone to developing this kind of pain.

Elbow pain is most commonly felt on the outside of the elbow (tennis elbow). Symptoms may also occur on the inner side of the elbow often referred to as golfers elbow. Pain that is caused by tennis elbow can be persistent, leading to weakness in the forearm that effects grip.

The tendon that joins the muscles of your forearm suffers with microtrauma and micro-tears which eventually becomes inflamed, if not treated promptly this condition can turn into chronic tendon inflammation and can be notoriously difficult to treat.

Tendons that suffer the stress of day-to-day activities do not easily heal from damage, symptoms can last for a number of months, sometimes they can persist for years becoming chronic, affecting quality of life. Stem cell therapy and/or Shockwave Therapy offer powerful non-surgical alternatives to steroid injections, using a combination of the purest stem cells with impulses of sound energy, targeted to specific damaged tissues stimulating cell regeneration and healing, and decreasing local factors which can cause pain. Get back to doing all the things you love, faster and without invasive surgery.

Alternatives to surgery for elbow pain:

  • Physiotherapy
  • Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)
  • Stem cell therapy
  • Extracorporeal Magnetotransduction Therapy (EMTT®)
  • Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT)

Common elbow conditions include: Tennis & Golfers Elbow, Elbow Bursitis, Arthritis.

Stem cell therapy may be effective in treating most elbow conditions and eliminating elbow pain.
